About Me

I started out family camping and canoeing, from Michigan out to the Pacific Northwest. I got into mountaineering, with the Olympic College, Bremerton, Washington mountain climbing course.

I have taken up kayaking and I like it.

I do ultralight backpacking, because I have a more enjoyable time of it unburdened by heavy loads.

I have been handicapped for a number of years now and it hasn’t held me back: I started with “Easy Day Hikes” in Glacier National Park, Montana. Next, I used TOPO! Montana mapping to select trails at my present level of “condition”. I drew the trails using the TOPO! software, heavily utilizing the “elevation profile” feature to compare and to plan the next trip I could expect not to exceed my level of “condition”.

My Favorite Place

North Fork Flathead River, Ford River Access Site and on down to Polebridge, Montana

It was low water and a “bottom-bumper” in places, but the CrossLink 3™ Old Town “Loon” kayak didn’t have a scrape.

In places, I felt I was the first person on the planet.
