Welcome! This map accompanies our annual 50 Great Adventure Towns article found in the September issue of National Geographic Adventure.

There are (4) separate maps, one each for the West, Rockies, Central, and East towns. This map covers the places featured in the West.

Rather than simply selecting the current cream of the crop adventure towns, we took of the pulse of where zip codes are headed. Our 50 picks for the country’s next best adventure towns are not only prime relocation spots right now. They’re smart investments for the future.

Ashland, Oregon, from Janesville, Ca.
Great roads – Hwy 395 to Hwy 44 north, to Hwy 89 north, to I5. Little traffic, great scenery, dinner train at McCloud, another train in Yreka…and…Oregon Shakespeare, Britt Music Festival and more in Ashland. Beautiful trip with great lodging and activities in Ashland, OR
