Wild and civilized by turns, the Adirondacks are an immense blue and green space in which to relax, play and plot an adventure. This region in Northern New York contains 3,000 ponds and lakes, 2,000 miles of hiking trails, more four-star resorts than any other destination in the state, nearly 100 campgrounds and, of course, the Adirondack Mountains.

Wallface Pond, it’s almost a year ago but I don’t think it changed much since. The entire area is flooded with beaver ponds, knee deep in boot sucking mud and swamp. But…. descent tent spots near Scott Pond, solitude nice vistas. Hike in via Indian Pass, a tough trail coming off the pass on the North side. Plenty of bolder hoping. Stop for lunch on Indian Pass Brook before heading up to Wall Face. You can bushwhack down from Wall Face but watch your bearing that you don’t end up on the hughe cliff facing Indian Pass. and yes, bring Deet except in Winter, Georg B
